SPEAK Event: Rupture & Repair: How to Reconnect After Conflict

Throughout the year, Live Oak partners with other independent schools and organizations to offer valuable parent enrichment opportunities that are open to the public. Coming up November 1, SPEAK is putting on an event titled, "Rupture & Repair: How to Reconnect After Conflict" featuring Dr. Jean Clinton and Lisa Rothman.
November 1, 2023 from 7-8:30pm at The Cathedral School for Boys

Relationships, whether they be friendships, parent-child bonds, professional associations, or partnerships, will always experience moments of tension, conflict or rupture at one time or another. On November 1, from 7:00 pm-8:30 pm at Cathedral School for Boys, SPEAK has the privilege of hosting psychiatrist Dr. Jean Clinton and communications expert Lisa Rothman as they delve into the neuroscience of conflict and provide effective communication strategies for repairing parent-child relationships.

Understanding what happens in our brain when navigating a strained relationship is critical to fostering healing and reconnection. Dr. Clinton and Ms. Rothman will illuminate the fundamental role that language, communication, and genuine connection play in the reconciliation process. Parents will gain insights into the art of reconciliation and will be equipped with specific techniques for mending ruptures, empowering them to approach conflicts with a more restorative and empathetic perspective. By the end of the session, parents and attendees will leave not only with a deeper understanding of relationship dynamics but also with a comprehensive toolbox of skills and strategies for rebuilding trust and reinforcing connection.
